Last Tuesday I tried a few new spots including a small creek South of the Tweed. After a few hours with only 1 bass and a few hits, I got slammed on a skitterpop. He did some deep lunges and ran through some weed but I pulled him up and on to the bank. He went 46cm and is so far the biggest bass this season. He was in good condition with a big pot belly.
I went to Lismore on Wed and picked up a few new lures. My brother and I fished the next day in the Richmond. We walked the banks with little success untill I hooked the smallest bass to date. He hit my lure 5-6 times before he learned his lesson. We saw some big goldfish and will be back next time to target them.
My brother broke his bass drought with a nice little bass which jumped out of the water twice. The humidty rose as a storm approached and We caught a few more bass. A nice little patch of overhanging rainforest produced the best bass at 36cm. Overall it was a nice walk and we just made it back to the car before the rain hit. All the bass were caught off the surface.
Good report. I was on the Tweed yesterday arvo/night which saw 12 fish boated between 2 of us. The fish were not really switched on and exept for the freight train that dusted me on a bibbless ecogear lure they all came from surface poppers which were worked fairly hard to produce that "boofing" sound to try and turn them on a bit with all fish in the mid 30's.
Eat well, drink in moderation, exercise often and yet you still die anyway!
Nice fish Pete,I gave my stickbait a swim last night but the bloody thing kept kicking off the same direction after each pulse (probably because I was to lazy to take the clip off and tie directly onto the lure),after about a dozen casts I got edgey and put ol' faithfull back on,but after seeing your results I'm going to leave the Taylor Made at home next trip and build an affinity with mine.Catch you later.
