oh and both fish caught casting
No I am not sick of it. I am going Monday, so want all the current info I can get!
Lovely looking fish!
I am not a trolling fan, (I'd rather get teeth pulled) so hearing about biguns caught with casting skill is just what I want to hear!
nice fish
Go the casters
Very Jealous of all you guys that can duck out to the dams for a barra fish. If we could get work up there would probably go tomorrow.
Kim.
hey setthehook heading up there in a couple of weeks what are your fav lures and what depth rating are they.got heaps but you can never have too many if i need a couple more
nice fish heading up that way next weekend.hoap i have some pics like that my self.
Well done Rob, looks like it hasn't taken you long to get the bug well and truly!
I landed loads of little Barra (most around 60cm) at Lenthalls on Monday night (casting - can't stand trolling either), however I desperately need to get into some bigger fish so won't be able to resist the urge to head at least back up to Monduran soon if I can't make it to Awoonga.
Monday night was a blast with the full moon, and got even better later in the night when I was in a bay crammed full of very nervous massive schools of bait being slammed by Barra whichever way you looked! The noise of the bait fish trying to walk on water en-masse was amazing, as was watching the Barra herding them up!
Cheers,
Tony
Very very nice fish Rob.
That weed bed in the back ground looks very much like the one I worked over with softies early Monday morn, for nil result.
Keep em comeing
cheers
Brian
I use alot of different lures and im finding that its where you fish more than what you throw at them. For those out last night you know what i mean when i say it was a sloppy crappy swell from the north east side of the dam but we managed a few over a meter and got bitten of by barra in mid air. My trick was i found a wind blown point that had muddy stirred up water from the dirt wave washed shore and i threw the anchor!! the boat was bashingaround in the swell but was worth it. We threw lures on the same corner and there were plenty of barra hiding in the one murky point. Stuff drifting when its that windy. We tie a bottle to the anchor rope so if we hook up we throw the rope and drift off fighting the fish. But i found the barra classics were the go on this trip but have landed a few on the rmg's 3meter and even softies.hey setthehook heading up there in a couple of weeks what are your fav lures and what depth rating are they.got heaps but you can never have too many if i need a couple more
