Solo Mission in the sticks and a 1 meter barra at

    What a DAY!!
Set out this morning in the dark for a Solo barra mission. Drove to Monduran Dam and I launched the boat in the dark. I was the 1st on the dam and i went for a troll.
WACK im on wow that didnt take long!! Turned out to be a stinking catfish.
Trolled a bit longer but no luck. I spotted member Seajay (Sean) and went over for a hello.
We both set off for some casting amongst the lantana further up the dam.
I had a couple of taps then i landed one that was pretty bloody small
Decided to go for a troll but i was nearly rocking myself to sleep.
Sean headed west for the timbers and i headed to an Island for a land based spin but i came up wih zero.
I was getting low on fuel so i headed for the Timbers and started using the electric minn kota, it was that or home.
After an hour of casting i was loosing the will but all of a sudden wack wack!! im on One of the best fights yet!!! real lock up and burn ya thumbs stuff as the fish made mad dashes for the timber! After about 4 intensive minutes the fish was boat side and every time i went to net it SPLASH BZZZZZZZZ he was of and running again but a bit of patience saw him plane into the net.
I grabed the pliers to remove the lure but wow i didnt need them the lure had fallen out of his mouth????
On closer inspection the fish had straighted the OWNER trebles !!!! the power in these fish has got to be witnessed to be believed!!
Anyways the fish was 1 meter on the nose and my 1st fish at monduran to reach the magic mark. Very happy man!!
After all that action i had to take my own photos by using a tripod and the auto timer on my camera and im suprised how good it worked out!!
Anyways the results of my solo barra mission.

Any news how the comp guys went?

Was a great Day. Saw a few barra being caught by the ABT guys as well as Rob's little fella.

Also saw a fairly big Barra smash himself into the side of my boat with my lure in his mouth but that was the last time I saw him

Now I need a new rod for next weekend

Nice work Rob. Congrats on the barra.
You seem to give that RMG a fair old flogging. Now seen a couple of fish of yours fall to that one.
How long did you go up for?
    Cheers

Well done Set The Hook thats a nice Monduran fish. You musn't live too far from there - good on you for getting out there as we only dream of being able to squeeze a few more days/year fishing at Monduran ha.

Good to see photos of what a 100cm barra can do to good hooks in the sticks. So many lose great fish by using light line and light hooks. Your pics might make a few second guess their tackle the next time they cast at timber when fishing for large fish LOL

Love the pics - solo ones are great too- keep them coming. We might even see you on the dam one day.

Talking about stickers ... Where the hell do you get em' from? I've just recently purchased my first boat, and although im not too concerned about stickers at the moment, I wouldnt mind a few down the track. Can't seem to find too many around my area, or Cairns for that matter.

Great fish by the way, top job. They can make a complete mess of your treble's in heavy structure... always carry heavy duty rings and trebles when Im fishing for them, ontop of the one's I have on my lures.

Gotta love the RMG Psychedelic Pink Head colouration too mate .

Well done mate, a nice fish [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Your right, you have to see first hand just what they can do to your gear

It is also hard to get people the understand just how hard these fish go in the sticks

    Hope you get plenty more
