Lenthalls dam 18th nov

Hi all, went to lenthalls dam on saturday to target barra only for the 1st time. I hit the water at about 6am working the lower basin area fishing the weed beds with surface lures with no hits, I worked my way up the middle arm reaching the top at about 8am when I got totally blown away by a barra of a single stump definatlly a barra .It wasnt untill 10am ,the wind started to really pick up & this seemed to turn the fish on , I worked the bays that were down wind & the bass & barra were waiting to strike.I managed to land 3 bass up to 45cm & 2 barra dropped about 50cm & 60cm both spat the lure right at the boat. The fishing seemed to shut down for me after that session untill 1pm when again I managed to hook into another barra to be spat boat side again after some good runs this fish would have measured well over 80cm . After that I worked the area for another hour with no joy ,I made my way back to the ramp & headed back to Noosa .
The lures that did the job was a yo zuri magnet systym 1 , koolabung fizzer & a dk eyecon +1. This dam definatley has barra & spread out . The bass didnt seem to be shy that I was using 60lb leaders & bigger lures they hit them with gusto.

Pitty you didnt land those barra. Its good to see the bass were hitting your barra lures. When i fish there for barra i never see to get any hits of such from a bass. Lenthalls dam is a awesome dam. Better luck next time.

P.S what pound mine line were u using?

Sounds like you had a good time anyway Pete, although I bet you were getting frustrated with the dropped fish. I haven't fished Lenthals yet, but intend to make the effort soon.

soccer101. I was using FINS 40lb main line & 60lb signature leader.

tiges, no I wasnt getting frustrated loosing them the goal for the day was to get stuck into the barra. It was fun just to hook some.
