my gosh.. on my second bass trip, we had a ball, one of our best freshwater fishing we had.

a long drive there from brisbane..with a crapped out trailer, most of the time praying it better not break down. and after 1 and a half hrs of trucks passing and tail gating me, we were there...i was just telling myself this better be good, after reading all the reports on qfm. the last trip really sucked..3 undersized bass. but we can only blame it on the electric motor...we forgot to put in the pin when cleaning all the snagged lines in the shaft.

so we were drifting in the wind for the entire trip...this time.. heheh, we are prepared...

we took a troll from the ramp to the other side near the ski huts, before starting to sound ard from fish..within 1 min mervs line went off, with a an average bass. as we moved on, BOns, certate went screaming with a 50 cm specimen landed..only less then 10 min of launching the boat. we had the whole lake to ourself..

since the trolling was so good, we gave it a bit more time, and all we can say is we had heaps of fun landing fish after fish and we had almost 40 fish amongst us.. with half of it going 45cms and more..
we din believe it...

well we were using bibless lures, the good old TN60 and Shimano VIB

rods... hahah

me majorcraft slicer and daiwa ss700
bon abu and certate r custom combo..

but wanted to tell u guys out there that the dam rocks...

Is the Dam level okay or is it really shallow and suited to smaller boats?

Dam level is low but once you get the boat in it is fine. I am out there all the time and most of the fish come from the flats and drop offs between 4 and 10m of water. Trolling is especially productive in Moogerah but casting is far more exciting and challenging. Lipless crankbaits are very good as are packrats, frenzys, boomerangs etc. Of course soft plastics are also extremely productive. All in all Moogerah is really fishing well. Just hope it can sustain the pressure til some rain comes.

Is the boat ramp functional or do you need to launch into really shallow water of the bank? The reason I ask is I want to take the full boar there, you think I will have any problems launching?

Fantastic fish guys. I had a good session at somerset with about 20 fish but 40 fish for the session in unreal

The boat ramp is unusable for a full boar, assuming you require floating the boat off, I use the old boat ramp from when the dam was low years ago, the edges are very soft and I reccommend a 4x4
The old boat ramp is not easily picked, located on the point of the spit,

the water level is really crap...the car has to get wet...if u have got a 4wd.. it will be ok...but it is a chore......to launch and retrieve...

yeah... lazy man trolling will account for most fish.. but casting will test ur patience and technique...
go the jackalls tn60s...

actually, any lipless crankbaits will work a treat......like wat chris galligan say.... reaction baits...!!

Thanks guys about the boat ramp tips, might wait until the heavens open up and bring some rang before i get back there. We only have a commodore station wagon so might get a bit tricky pulling her out of the water. The full boar 5.5 seems a very heavy boat with heavy duty trailor and glass. Looks like i will wait until the week before xmas for my next freshwater encounter up at Borumba.

r those bass as healthy as they appear? the one on the right in the first photo appears to have a sore on it. I was down there two weeks ago, and we caught a few with sores. Not sure what the go with this was, all we were doing was catch and release.
