    Moogerah today (6th)

Moogerah was hot today and I don't mean the temperature. Mate and I took a couple of Kayaks up early and had a paddle in the puddle. I had a look up towards the creek but got nothing so back towards the ramp. Schooling bass in 12 foot were hitting SPs twitched off the bottom. Mate had 20 by 09:00 and I had 12. We knocked off about 10 but they were still on. The Black and Gold Tilsen I trolled back to the ramp added two on the way home. I guess we totalled more than 50 for the session. Just a note, if you are into C&R, don't forget to crimp the barbs - the fish were hitting really hard and several inhaled the jig head and SP.

    Roo,

There is a gravel ramp just north of the concrete ramp. Watch for a large rock about three metres out. The scrapes and gouges in the top of it will tell you if you found the one I mean. Take care if you launch elsewhere, the edges are really soft.

    Bdowdy,

Our biggest fish was about 46. The schools tended to have the same size fish in them so if you are picking up small ones, move to the next school. The size of the fish is one thing; I do love to hear the drag go off and get towed around in the Kayak.

I might put the old prop on for that one

    Thanks for the heads up.

Went yesterday(Sat 9th)) and almost had the dam to ourselves. About 20 fish landed but only three over 40cms.

Lost a couple of really big fish lures and all - I must be slipping.

Very hard to get my 14 foot tinny out of the water due to the dreaded rock and deep mud. Glad I was not alone otherwise I would still be there trying to get the trailer out of the water.

Have to go to Somerset until Moogera gets some rain. Shame - the fishing is really hot.

Also out there Sat arvo (9th) and we landed 10 in 2 hours. Dropped another ten off the hooks for some reason, some of them good sized fish. Water very dirty and maybe lack of vision led to so many hits without proper hook-ups. Best fish landed was only 38.5cm which was a new PB for my 5 year old son who now calls himself "bass master".

Worked the edges with surface lures till after dark without a single hit.

Same problem with my 14 ft tinnie, in fact we were the only boat there and nearly didn't get the trailer back out of the mud. Rocks are now blocking the boat ramp and only way to get in and out is to jack-knife the trailer off the side of the ramp (gravel and rock). Only problem then is to try and drag the trailer back up onto the gravel and out of the mud. My oldest son (9years) thought the rig was going to "capsize".
    Live to fish.
