Hi all, had a couple of fun Bass sessions here on the southern Gold Coast over the past weeks. Even with the fickle weather thats been thrown at us of late, the good old bass still came out to play. I had one sesion with Franco & a good mate of his & another with my older brother & one just solo. We flicked the old Tiny Torpedo's & Megabass popers at them & found that Baby bass colour to be a standout.
In the tidal Bass areas we found the lower part of the tide best & the time of day didnt seem to matter so long as the wind was light. Casting under the overhanging structure & concentrating on the prominent snags worked well.
Some of the structure is hard to get under so flat or skip casting was needed to get to the strike zone.
The fresh water areas tend to be a case of the early bird gets the worm. This morning I started fishing at 5am & had my first fish in three casts. Apart from the start time all of the other factors remain the same. A log, boulder or bridge footing are all likely places to cast first, the dominant fish usually lurk there.
The past few sessions have totaled quite a few fish, average size 28-32cms. There not huge but every now & then a 40-45cm one shows up & sorts the men from the boys. I'm not sure where that leaves me! [smiley=grin.gif]
Along with the average size fish there has been a number of small 15-18cm fish. I see this as a good sign for the future as the bass have been able to do there thing even with the growing pressure on them.
Cheers for now
Toppy
