Shitty(Scott)
Now he is happy
Seems a few fished lenthals over Christmas break, We fished around 6 times over the
last couple of weeks. It is a beautiful dam and produces plenty of fish, Wer had a great time landing around 15 barra and a few bass all the barra were from 55cm to 70cm and we lost a couple that looked around the 90 mark.
We probably boated half the fish we hooked and now I understand why people are loosing so many fish.
1 pic here is of Shitty(Scott) who came out with me over a couple of days and kept loosing fish, this the first one he boated and I will say persitance payed off.
I will be heading back very soon and I cant wait.
Cheers
Stephen
great work guys,
hey how would one go trying to get one of those barra in when fishing from a canoe/kayak
Cheers,
Ben
Yella hunter,
there were 2 guys fishing from kyaks and they said they have boated a couple, the barra pull hard, it would be a good challenge.
beautiful fish
i have seen a couple of fellas fishing from canoes and they love it ,they were saying that hooking the barra was the easy part, trying to stop them from towing you into the weeds was the fun and games.
Well done Steve,
Sounds like the trip was well worth while and barra are always a thrill no matter what the size. Sorry I couldn't get up to join you for a session - you know how it is, family commitments etc. Will catch up for a fish in the next few weeks - may even head out into the bay chasing spotties if we get a good day.

Well done LCC. Nice pics too. Those barra from there look awesome and fight as good as they look too, don't they?
Sniper and I hit the dam on Saturday and had an absolute blast. With the overcast day the surface fishing was incredible. We had around 25+ surface strikes from barra for about 7 barra landed and 2 poppers lost to fish. Our last surface barra came at around 2 in the afternoon. Three lost jackalls in quick time lead me to tie on a drop bear slick rig which accounted for another 15 or so barra. The fish were in two size brackets, 42-45 cm and then 61-67 cm. All hit well above their weight range. I for one will never forget those surface strikes for the barra.
All in all we had an awesome day that will possibly never be repeated and if I wasn't there to witness it I would probably have a hard time believing the action would be possible. I have regarded the dam as a great little bass dam but it will now be hard to target the bass next time knowing the population of barra that are there. Maybe we'll just target the bass in winter.
Can't wait to get back over there. We fished on electric only all day, at least this made us fish areas harder than if we could have used the petrol motor to move to spots quicker.
Rob
Yes had an absolute ball. Thanks again Rob for taking me up there. Worked out those fish cost me about $100 in lures. They definately love those Jackalls. As Rob said, they think they are jellybeans. If we didn't catch 2 bass, I would have said that there is no bass in there. Still got the smile on my face, even after a crappy day at work.

Good to see someone enjoying the dam at the moment.
Dont woryy about there not being Bass in the dam there are planty and some of em are big suckers as well.
Whats more sitisfying is seein g bOTH species co habitating, we are still YET to see any evidence that they wont , and that the barra eat the bass.
The last time I was able to fish( 2 wees ago ! size of motor thingy!!!!) I actually had a barra come from underneath a big bass to scoff the fly. This was safter I had had one of em flash the lure , but not hook up.
I can still see it so clearly now! What a sight!
It's awesome stuff when ya can cast at a snag and not know what you are going to hook.
Jackalls and Barra..???? mmmmmmm
Me thinks you a rich man hey!! LMAO
Thats like I read in another post that Lenthals has no sticks in it. even funnier than you bein rich.....
Anyway great to see someone getting on the water. Well done guys.
