Hex Head Lures
Has anyone used the Hex Head lure?
i bought one because dad didn't like trolling slow in the boat ("oiled up the engine it said. 2 stroke engine).
n e way.
I've used it. but i not 100% sure on how to run it..
Can someone give me any tips.
If i can recall correctly it's a 90gram. could be wrong.
ie. how far back from the boat to troll.. what speed to run the boat , etc
thanks

Re: Hex Head Lures
G'day Jason
You can run them between 6-8 knots and at least the 4th bow wave back behind the boat. Not sure where your located so I can only comment generally about hook sizes. 7/0 to 10/0 on 200 lb/49 strand wire behind the head and infront either black seven strand wire or 200 lb clear mono leader.
You will need spring armour or plastic tubing over the top off your mono loop join which needs to go through the wire loop above your hook to prevent rubbing. Crimps will be needed to fit both wire and mono loop joins and figure 8 brass are usually best.
That should get you started.

Re: Hex Head Lures
Hi
Have used the Hexheads a fair bit, one of my favourite trolling lures. You can troll them up to 18 knots. Have caught several species on them, Yellowfin Tuna, Rainbow Runner, Mahi Mahi, Mackerel, to name a few.
For more info have a look at the Hexhead website
