    Livebait Trolling

I have read all the books and seen all the videos but whenever I try trolling livebaits all they seem to do, even at the slowest of speeds is skim along the surface on their sides. I'm trolling (or trying to) Tailor.......I haven't yet got a bait needle to thread the eye socket yet but i have heard that it still works with a jaw hooking, can anyone help??? Thanks guys.

    Re: Livebait Trolling

sounds to me like you are either going too fast or the bait is hooked wrong, or both.

You should be going dead slow - maybe 1-2 knots. The bait should be hooked sideways through the nose and you can put a stinger hook further down the bait as well.

Then again, I usually troll yakkas and have never trolled a tailor, so maybe it is not so easy.
