While I don't fish that stretch of water, it is not hard to find schools of Poddy mullet etc. Just a slow walk along the bank with your cast net redy should see you catch livies without too much trouble at all.
I live on the gold coast and often fish between the nerang and coomera rivers. I read reports saying to use livies but am always unable to find or catch any. Does anyone know any spots where i could either jig or cast net live bait?
Thanks.

if you cant find any decent spots you could alway have a try around the boat ramp, theres normally schools of mullet and herring around these areas
I usually jig under the Sundale bridge for me livies. I believe that any bridge on the coast will do as well as the ramps and pontoons. Casting at Budds Beach has worked in the past as well.
Herring are in abundance at Marina Mirage !!!!!!!

If im launching at the Grand hotel ramp, walk up to the jetty
(think its a taxi one) just to the right, cast net of it, usually
plenty of herring/mullet/gar, or under the nerang bridge
of go into the seaway around the pipe line usually schools
hanging around there, if i dip out there the bay round near
the spit or the marina usually has bait fish hanging around
