hey guys... I moved house down to redland bay area 8 weeks ago and I haven't found any fish yet. I've tried plastics, minnows, live baiting, even fly and I can't find where they r. I am fifteen and just moved from Lota/tingalpa creek area. If you can help me out at all that would be great. i'll probably take the tinnie out on the weekend but i've got no idea where to start looking. I live at point talburpin which is at Redland bay.
thanks 4 your help.
Anywhere around the islands straight out in front of the point should get you a feed of crabs and fish. Thompson beach at vic point fishes well at night, and you are not all that far from coochie mudlo. hope this helps
cheers.
HI Michael, Sat not going to be the best day on the bay with these wind, unless they die down overnite.
But for a 15 teen in a tinnie, if wx permits, put in at wienram ck Next to vmr, top of the tide try along the mangrove at snipe Is,
coochie from the red on the n/e cnr intowards the rocks and along the top of coochie, 20-30m off the beach.
or shot across to macleay, the iron stem, but inside the inner channel and cast back on to the rocks.
or north of the jetty top of macleay theres a deep hole try last half of flood and top.
or if you put in a raby bay clevland pt
just go inside the two reds no further and fish the rubble bottom between these two reds.
try some bottle squid, hardiheads,or some fresh strip bait, only need single 2-3/0 hook, sinker on top of hook.
give them a try
regards
The Redland Bay Amateur Fishing Club is based at the hotel (it has waterfront land adjacent to Weinam Creek on which a clubhouse etc will be built shortly). Meanwhile, they meet on the third Thursday of each month at the hotel.
It's a good club and you'll learn a lot about bay, estuary and offshore fishing. It's as competitive as you want it to be. That is, you can fish every trip to win, or you can take a more social approach.
It's produced a number of top anglers over the years, and that's an on-going process. This info may assist you. - Ron Collins, Ed.
PS: I'm a (somewhat inactive these days) member, but always enjoy the company of the members I still bump into.
gday ron thanks for your reply. I've been speaking to a relative of mine about joining up. his name is graeme maiden, u may have met him. any chance you could please give me some info on joining please thanks for your help.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Best bet is to turn up at a meeting, meet a few members and get the application form. Now is a fairly good time to join as renewals are due about now, too. My telephone contact details for committee members in various positions are all at work (BNB Fishing), so phone me there during working hours on 3286 1833 if you can't get to a meeting. Ron Collins.
