    fluro carbon lines

hi im new to this site but would like some feed back on flouro carbon leaders , l have a mate who swears it improoves his ultra light line bream catches because of the invisabiltiy of it ,if thats the case is it also effective on hook up rates for bigger fish , so does it work and is it worth the extra dollars cheers

Sorry Rob have to disagree with ya...i reckon lines such as STREN AND VANISH have helped me catch those timid fish...Starlo and Bushy swear by them !!The finer the leader the better for species such as bream etc.
Spike2 if you buy 300 metres of this line and use it for leaders its going to last you a long long time so therefore money well spent.

    Re: fluro carbon lines

Brent I thought the topic was bigger fish, In the class I have used it does not tie good knots, so Im stuck with crimps, A shiny target for wahoo, not to mention cost, $1 a meter. go get 300m of that

    Cheers

    Re: fluro carbon lines

I use flurocarbon on my 6kg gear for chuckin at Queenies , Trevors etc.

It'll do me just fine. Like the way I can see exactly where my cast has gone, lure landed etc.

Soon as it hits the water , it's gone.

Give it a go and see for yerself !

Yes Rob some brands are exspensive..Vanish is one of the cheaper brands....i understand that using heavy fluro carbon line for pelagics would cost quite a bit...i'm talking fishing the estuaries and shallow reef area's.
    Cheers Brent.
Ps..i have a baitcaster spooled up with 300 metres of 14lb Vanish but don't try it on a thread line reel...it tends to fray bad.

    Re: fluro carbon lines

I'm with aquarius on that one!
Peronal preference rally, What i recomend you do is give some vanish a go and compare it to the line you are using at the moment, then make the descision yourself. I work in the fishing section of Amart all sports and when i ask someone about their opinion of flourocarbon i get alot of different answers, and all of them for so many deifferent reasons, so what i say you do is just try it.

    Re: fluro carbon lines

It is always difficult to judge the results ,because your not fishing the fluro carbon at exactly the same time as normal mono you dont get an immediate comparison,it is only after prolonged use that you start to feel one has benifits over the other . anyway l will buy some and if l can notice a diference l will let you know
    thanks guys
