hey fellars,
im heading up to maroochydore in a couple of weeks with my school's fishing club (nudgee college). im not gonna take the boat up cos id rather fish off the shore like every one else and be fair (damn). havent been up there for years and was just wondering where i should go to taget some: Bream and flathead on softies, whitting, and maybe somewhere i can tangle with a jack, cod or maybe a trevally for fun. i know its a bit of an ask, i should really bring the boat though, oh well. anything would be helpful.
like fisho said try chambers - there is a flat and a deep hole at the southern end - at the change of the tide try there. you could also try the pipe at twin waters (mouth of the canals with the weir) its best at the top of the tide right on dawn or dusk.
gezz you private skool bastards have got it easy!!!
I fish maroochy more then most people.. heh.. cept lately cuz of the damn rain but usually its 4 times a week.. Chambers Island is a good spot to start.. but if you want bream, id suggest getting to picnic point, just across the water.. u could almost wade there on a low tide.. well i could work from the bridge up the canal and around the pontoons and jettys .. you should get a few flathead aswell.. and sometimes the odd estuary cod turns up.... if you cant do that, try around each boat ramp.. the one on Fishermans road has a 2ft dropoff at the bottom of the ramp (catches alot of new boaters there) and you'll get flathead and small bream, walking along the bank away from the bridge will get flathead, the mangroves up the end will produce the odd jack, the bridge near the fishermans road boatramp is good for estuary cod, very small mulloway, trevally and bream.. the otherside near the entrance of the lagoon you'll pickup bream and flathead, if ur using lures the flathead will take a red t-tail grub on a dead stop.. so they are easy and fight well.. what days do you plan on fishing???
g'day mate, havent fishd maroochydore much but the surf can be good from my experiences. Chambers island is a good spot for whiting and flathead as well. Ask ol mate at swan boathire, he usually has all the info.
hey Tim,
thanls for that info eh, it'll be great if i can taget some of those maroochy trevally, never caught any down here, only up at tin can bay and hervey bay. i need to give my bream outfit a work out with my newly aquired sof plastics which have been producing around north brissy lately. mainly sliders in pumkinseed andthese beut little storm rattle plastics in chartreuse (working fantastic for flatties at the moment). but im gonna be givin the bait outfit a workout on some whitting and stuff as well. we are gonna be up there at pincoushin on the 27th of march. im on the advance party who sets up before the rest get there on fiday so ill be getting some extra time in the water hopefully. i think there is about 25 to 30 of us up there on that weekend so the rest of ya fisherman should steer clear of that area because the little buggers will be scaring every fish in the area away. oh well.
