    Sand Pumping Jetty...

I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on fishing off the sand pumping jetty ?

Apart from the ridiculous $3.50 per fisherman, is this a sport worth a look?

I usually fish the surf holes and gutters along the goldie (whiting, dart, bream) etc but have been finding the jetty always seems to create a hole/gutter close to the beach to fish from... just wondering if its any better on the jetty? Time/tides that are best ?

    Thanks,
    just one more cast........

Sorry I don't have the answers to your questions but would like to pose another one ! Just wondering what kind of gear people use and the rig/setups etc?

    Thanks

chief i havent been down there for a while but my mate has been averaging 36 whiting every saturday morning up to 35 cms. 7 to 10 am. Fishing just behind the break. I like to fish at night 3/4 out on the left side for whiting, right side for tailor / dart. Last trip i did my return was 3.3 kg of fillets from 36 whiting. it fishes well but depends on wind more then anything. s/ se good anything from the north to the west not so good unless some tailor are around. Oh if fishing at night once the small rays come round pack up and go home. hope this helps. Also I dont keep any whiting under 25 cms.
      cheers.

What kind of setup do you use? Do you need a longer strong rod to bring the fish up to the jetty since it is quite a height? I am hoping to get down there at easter and wanted to know if the gear I have would be sufficient. Also is a net needed to land them or can they be landed ok at the top?
