Had the same problem. I pop riveted, using tiny S/S washers each side to spread the load, two webbing straps to the Alvey which allowed the use of the wider belt. You could also use some small S/S bolts, washers & nuts.
I've always used the standard Alvey bucket, but my new belt is too wide. Is a cut down milk bottle the best choice?
Since I've asked so many questions recently, here is a tip for those that don't already know.
Those $2 'stainless' scissors from a chain or junk store are a great way of cutting bait fillets into bait.
