    Re: Burleigh

Try Tallebudgera creek, i have only fished around the mouth from the groyne to the flats on the other site of the Gold Coast Highway. The brige was a few nice breambos on it and i have also piked up pike, butterbream and a few whiting there. Also try the groyne itself, i once stode there and watched some serious fish coming in and out and smashing bait, pitty camp was 2km's away!

    cheers, Justin

    Re: Burleigh

Besides where Thunnus suggested, there are a few nice gutters along Palmbeach at the moment, might be worth trying there for a Jew. make sure you get a look at Tallebudgera at low tide so you know where the gutters are if throwing a line for Jew.

On the western side of the highway you throw crab pots in for sandys. Further upstream is muddie territory.

Use fresh local bait, herring, mullet, pike etc which can be caught near the bridge using a cast net, or jigs for the pike & herring. As for rigs, I would use a running ball sinker to a swivel, then a 2m trace & some gang hooks

Jewies, herring can take a while to catch on multi hook bait jigs, aside froma castnet that is the method, they are hard to keep alive, not trying to put a downer on the idea but seeing you are new to the sport, id say try some mullet gut and pillies for bream and tailor, good luck.

I reckon the best bait for good bream is really fresh bread, from a bakery. Rip the crusts off, Remember to leave the hook point exposed, rip the white bread down the middle, and wrap it around a long shank hook and squeeze it till it looks like a cigar, throw it out where there is Bream and I bet you will out fish everyone there!!

I have had some success with spinning metal slugs off the rocks at burleigh for chopper Tailor. It's a bit snaggy though.

    Re: Burleigh

When I head down there i usually fish for Bream around the 6 knot sign in Tallebudgera Creek. You can pump yabbies from a bank a bit further down the creek, they tend to be one of the best baits down there.

Also if you use berley it tends to bring the Bream on the chew as well.

    Cheers,

    Dominator.
