    Nerang River

    Hi All

I might take a run down the Nerang River for a fish in a mate’s boat on the weekend.

I know nothing about the river or any other river for that matter nor does the skipper.

I would like to know where to launch - we will be coming from Brisbane and advice as to what we might catch and what is the best bait and outfit to take.

Sorry if this sounds dumb but I do most of my fishing outside or around Peel Island as does the skipper.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I think Cragie would be the one to ask about the Nerang as he fishes it quite a bit.

I know the Council Chambers fish all right for Whiting and worms are supposed to be a good bait for them.

    Cheers,

    Dominator.

    Yes, well, The Nerang.

The area, known as the Council Chambers should be OK for Whiting with these South Easters. Even further up.

The ramp at the Sundale Bridge is good.

As a little hint, take some Soft Plastics and flick around and under the pontoons.

All the above areas are marked on your Street Directory.

Hi Kaos, how did you go up the Nerang ? I have fished there quite a bit over the past few years but only during the warmer months for witting and as it gets a bit cooler get a few decent grunter bream further up the river.
As a tip, the best bait i have found for witting is canal wrigglers if you can get them followed by rock worms. If not try pumping for yabbies over on the western side of wave break. I tend to fish further up past the chambers a fair way at a few different spots but as i said during summer mainly but would be interested to see how you went.

    Cheers
    Matt
