    Cuttlefish

Can anyone give me any information on cuttlefish ie are they good to eat, can they hurt me etc.
I caught a cuttlefish today on pilchards by a fluck although i had plenty of others try to take the bait.
They are one scary looking animal.

By a fluck eh? Yes they can hurt you if you put anything near their beak. Basically they're like squid but I'd use them as bait, they would be excellent.

One of our spots on 'Wide Caloundra" seems to produce quite a number of cuttlefish (it's over 100m deep!). They are GREAT bait - hangs on like nothing else!

    P.S. Watch the ink!

    Re: Cuttlefish

    G'day BA.

Caught one a real perla of about 60 or 70 cm about 2 weeks ago and my mate was that scared of it he didn't want it in the boat!
    So we released it....

Caught it on a regular squid jig going for calamari here in Vic.
My mate reckons they are the best snapper bait by a long shot, but I can't comment on their eating qualities.

    Cheers, NS
