Hey there,
I live at Redland bay and I am lookin for a place nearby that I can cast net or even better Jig for live bait. I am starting to get more familiar with the area now and would like to try and use live bait for a change. Ive tried a few time at the mouth of the logan and any where else that looked worth a try but have had no luck. possibly most bait fish are out of season, but not sure. I am just hooking up a life bait tank in my tinnie so that may come in handy.
the other thing is that I am interested in joining a fishing club or a group where I can meet up with a few people and go fishing because all my mates live in the Wynnum manly and find it hard to get down to my house. I have a 3.7m edgetracker and I'm not old enough to have a boat or car licence so it makes it pretty hard to get to things like the ausfish meet and greets. Can anyone recommend a club nearby that I can meet some other lure or bait fanatics that would be keen to go for a fish on weekends and holidays. Anyone.....Anyone....Anyone.
thanks for your help and any replys would be greatly appreciated.
mic,
any mangrove creek mouth in the logan will hold herring & bony bream.
A particulary good spot for herring is as you leave the Logan & pass Lagoon Is on your left there is a shallow passage before you get to the banks marked by the green beacons. On a low tide the deep (only about 1.5m) part of this passage where it enters the logan is a great spot for herring (no snags like some of the creek mouths). Keep your eyes open when motoring often the bait can be seen flicking the surface - when they are up & thick like that you'll fill the bait tank with a single cast. Hope this helps.
I've had a bugga of a time cast netting mullet this year so I won't give any advice on that one.
Hello
If you ask and stay out of the way when the ferries come in, go down to wall where the old car ferry used to go, you can jig, cast and if you are real quick the little crabs in the rocks are fantastic bait
dreamdays,
thank you for your reply. sorry but I am still not very familiar with the area. is there any chance you could please briefly explain where that wall is. is it near weinam creek??? thank again
michael Brewer
hello
not weinam creek, come back a bit where the old car ferry used to leave from, its next to where the karragarra lamb etc vehicle ferry leaves from.
