    If they are around, just about anything works. Big fat poppers work a treat with the big boys.

    like clutter said. when trevally are around they go nuts on just about anything, but lures that can be worked quicly are best. poppers work wonders as do metal slugs. as for live baits, take note of what they are feeding on in the area.. live prawns, herring and mullet are always a good start.

    A popper that I have had a lot of success with is a popper that I got from Mo Tackle it's called Bucket Mouth made of wood and funnel shaped.Ended up getting a couple of different colours.But as they said when they are on they will just about take anything.

    a guy in a tackle shop gave me a great bit of advice once, use soft plastics and instead of winding the handle of your reel, wind youir reel and rod around your handle, ie. hold your handle still and use your rod to wind as fast as you can

    i was talked into buying the old "spoon" lure for chasing macks at the beacons

    what do you think and have you used them ???

    they are hopeless at the beacons. really hard to get them down to the fish in the current as they are so much lighter than a slug........ they work well slow trolled from a downrigger or planer though in some areas.
