Re: Cooking Mud Crabs
Freeze water in a milk bottle and place it (when frozen) in an esky in which you have placed your crabs in enough sea water to cover them.
In a few hours the crabs will be dead.
Cook em, enjoy em.

I cut them clean in half with a cane knife or machete. Clean them and then cook em, works for me.

Re: Cooking Mud Crabs
In the freezer for 30 minutes and into a pot of salt water to boil for approx 15 minutes.......back into ICE WATER for another 30 minutes.......clean and enjoy.mmmmmmmmuddies
Ice water will help the meat seperate from the shell more easily.

Re: Cooking Mud Crabs
We have neglected to tell you how to tie a mud crab before placing it in the freezer. I don't catch a lot so I throw them in an ice slurry without tying so I'm no expert. I have put a .pdf of a "how to" on the Balgal Beach web site link mentioned above. It's a good document from the NT Government. Be careful!
