would like to know tips on brisbane area too. when/ where/ what to look for
rob
All you need is to find a weed bed. You will need a prawn lamp or torch(good quality) and a scoop net i have'nt tried but read it in a magazine.
In Brisbane, follow the bumble bees ............ the Vietnamese guys in
their yellow rain coats. If they are around then there are prawns. And stand back in awethese guys are great

mate i just moved to brisbane from the entrance.
to go prawning there you need a 6v bike battery, underwater light, and a net you can but the whole set up for about $80-90 from petes fishing tackle on the entrance rd at the entrance. best time to go is on the full moon on the run out tide. you will see about 5000000 other people there doing it. just follow them. not a good idea to try it during the holiday season as you will be dissapointed when you see what the tourists do to such a beautiful place(eg keeping every *&(%ing thing the catch, leaving there rubbish all up the beach etc) you will see what i mean.
anyway pack to prawning. it is very easy, lots of fun. and if ya want to have a go when the tides are not suttible try going to canton beach, big flats with lots of weed. you may even pick up a nice flathead (take a spear)
BE VERY CAREFULL OF THE BULLROUTS VERY PAINFULL EXPERENCE
hope this helps

NO MANNERS, NO IDEA, i even seen one fall in and his mate gaffed him to get him back out, im supprised he didnt not jump in there after him
Hey rob check out nuggets home page as there is bit of info on the southside of brisbane least we have the luxury of cast nets
I have seen just as many Aussies keeping everything they can as much as any other nationality.
thanks starfish
Hey we just got 3 kg of prawns at bermagui in 2 hours or so nice spot there during the salt water classic
Spend some time around Peel or Goat, and see who keeps what. I have never seen an Aussie, keep an esky full of undersize reef fish, but I have seen new comers keep the lot, and get away with it. There is a double standard in Australia as far as I can see.
