    i use a double about 2-3 foot long... knot used if im not feeling lazy is a plait, if im feeling lazy then i just use a shitty old spider hitch i usually use my 4500 bait runner till my arm gets sore then i will change to my tss4. i use 20 gram slugs and have only lost about 4 slugs all year.
    im not sure how the mackeral are in the bay but up here if the mackeral around around there is no need what so ever to let it sink. as soon as it hits the water start winding flat out and dont stop till it is at the boat.
    JB- yes i HATE wire, only use it trolling biger baits and lures (sometimes)

    no wire for me either. but then i suppose it depends how much you pay for you slugs doesnt it
