    Re: Shark Fishing

Hutcho , it is actually a gummy ...i got it a couple of weeks ago , but down in Cronulla / Sydney .
busted the scales but we think it would have gone around 45kg ..on 15 kg tackle ....took a while , but nice fish off the rocks on that line class

I haven't done much land based fishing up here for sharks , not too many spots to get em , but we have hooked a few BIG whalers off the rocks over at cylinder beach on Straddie .

The biggest shark i have hooked up here would have been approx 250 kilo tiger out off Flat rock on an 8 kilo live Mack Tuna

. Damned big gummy you got there then Billo! Did you eat him?

Would have been some fun catching your 'bait' for your big tiger too. Do you spend a lot of your fishing time shark fishing?

Yeh , the gummy's are quite good eating as far as shark standards go .

I don't spend much time anymore fishing for them ...although i still love it . Not many marine creatures have the endurance of a shark .....good long battles !

I used to fish game comps in Sydney chasing tigers and Mako's ....and did quite a bit land based too .

The tiger i fought up here was out on a charter with some lads from the office .

One of them brought up a good macky and i thought DMAN IT ...why not , put a hook in his back and sent him down live !!!!!

We have caught an absolute Sh*$load of small sharks out from Raby Bay ...mostly scalloped hammerheads and whalers ...

i am keen to get out just chasing them in the Bay again though ...no boat anymore , so i rely on anyone else witha boat to be interested too and wouldn't mind another angler ....we haven't really put an effort in yet on the macmauler express ....but i am sure we will one day...need a bit more room JUST to be safe though ( even though we use to chase em in a 12' f/g runabout

    mackmauler

do you think i could weigh in, in the comp. ???
if this time i tied the line "heavy gauge wire" to the cat and pulled the shark to the weigh in then release
    "whats the time"
