soft plastics
Hello all Iwould like to know the best soft plastic to use for flathead.Does colour of water make any difference to what colour of lure you use and what rate of retrieve should you use. Also what size to use I have used rio prawn with a little success but is there a better catcher.
Thanks gelgep

Re: soft plastics
Welcome to the site mate.
Haven't done all that much with SP's myself, but hopefully some others will chip in.
Here's a previous post that might help to start with.

I remember seeing posts on colour etc in fly chat, and tackle and accessories has more soft plastic posts as well. Think you will find most of your answers with a bit of a look through the older pages of the board.
Good Luck
Cheers

Re: soft plastics
almost any color sp will get the flatties
they are real suckers for a softy but the main thing is to keep the soft plastic moveing and jiggling just off\on the bottom
i find sind\gle tails alot better and thing you can't go past the berkly powerbait 2" grub in christmas light color (well at lest thats what i think) caught most of my big lizards on this plastic and i do call it 'flattie killer'

I've also had a lot of success with Squidgy fish in the garry glitter colour and the 3" Ecogear SP's. A slow retrieve with the SP regularly bouncing off the bottom causing a bit of mud or sand to puff up normally gets their attention. I don't think lizards like clear water, they prefer a bit of colour i think.
