Re: help on fishing in the coomera

The top of the river has been a bit quiet of late, I’d fish the lower reaches first of the push in and the last of the run out depending on what your targeting,
Also try casting soft plastics up on (personally favourite Squidgies and ecogear grass minnows in pink) the sand flats on the high, I’ve noticed a few flathead sitting right up on these in the shallows lately, hard body lures give the lively micro mullets and Tilsan lures a swim.
It starting to cool down far bit , and it’s the change of fishing seasons, jacks are still in with a chances , best baits live herring ,poddy mullets, if you can’t get any livies then mullet strips, dropped in the deep holes close to structure and along rock walls, bridge pylons. These are worth working over with a few lures, large soft plastics are a good way of getting that lure down deep and having the ability to fish them slow, it can be much easier to fish these areas deep on the very top and bottom of tides when the flow slows down and fish tend to move off the pylons an away from structure a bit more, work all areas over thoroughly and systematically. At present there also a chance of picking up a Jew from the deep holes and bridges. Coombabah creek is a good spot to try for whiting, flathead ,live blood, beach worms yabbies are pretty good, small slider soft plastics in the shrimp colour seem to work well on the whiting. Bream can be taken all along the Coomera river, big tidal movement will see them hug the bank side structure close, snags, pylons, jetties, pontoons, sunny days try casting small plastics on 1 /1 6 jigheads into the shadows, berkley 3 ” bass minnows, atomic 2 ” fat grubs, and sliders all worth a go. Top of the tide bream will move into the shallows especially if the sky is overcast. Long cast is needed so as to not spook fish with the boat though.
    Hopes this helps a little
