    worms please help

g'day fellars hope you all had a good xmas. I dug my first worms today I could only get small ones, whats the trick to getting the big ones is it the tide or dig deeper or try a different spot. No wonder they charge so much for them its bloody hard work

    cheers brewman

    Brewman,

There is a good article in the January edition of Fishing Monthly on catching worms in the surf, they go right through the pro's and con's. Hope this helps

    Sharky,
Don't think he is looking for slimies if he is digging for them.
Saw the article you referred to in fishing monthly. I'll be interested to try the bait in the stocking to see if the front legs get caught up in it and make the worm easier to catch. My old man taught me to use pipi tongue to present to the worm as it is pretty tough and they usually hang around for a couple of humps trying to pull a chunk off. But if the stocking gets them a bit tangled up, its gotta help.

    Brewman,
What sort of worms are you after and where are you looking to dig them?

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Sorry I took so long to reply I have been on holidays, I am looking for blood worms. I dug in the mud flaps in and around mangroves at low tide, Im just wondering when is the best time to dig for worms.

    Cheers,
    Brewman

Hmmm .... reading that article I just posted above has got me wondering if the wriggler worms he was talking about are the same thing as the white worms I was looking for some info on. Think the bodies can look a bit pale pinkish sometimes whereas the long thin tail is more pale greenish. Hmmmmm.
