    Fishing Advice

    Hi all,
I'm new to these posts and to the Gold Coast area, having just moved here with a couple of girlfriends recently. I am a mad keen saltwater fisherperson and would dearly love to receive some tips on the area in relation to pelagics. I have a 5.5 mtr quintrex boat, but sadly none of my housemates share my love of fishing. I am located at Burleigh Heads and was hoping someone might help point me in the right direction to snag a few fish and also advise on best ramps in the area and preferred bars to navigate.
    Hoping someone can assist.

    Cindy,

When a post does not get the desired response, or gets lost if there are a lot of posts around the same time, you are allowed to "bump" the post.

    So consider this a bump.

We have a heap of guys on this site from your area that are experts and I am sure will be able to assist you.

On the other hand, apparently there have been a few bodgy members set up over the years by members having a bit of fun and setting up as females. Not for a second saying that this is the case here. Can I ask a question,,, female, into fishing, owns a 5.5 Quintrex,,, lives with a couple of other girlfriends,,,, your farther wouldn't happen to own a pub, would he?

Or,,, can rename yout post to something that stands out a bit better such as "Palagics off the GoldCoast" as it is more likely to get the attention of your target audience.

    Ok Cindy
I will take your post at face value - for now . At Burleigh Heads you can use Currumbin ramp and bar ( ramp good , bar is shallow and req. local knowledge - call in to VMR rescue ). Tally Creek ( known dangerous bar but is at present OK in small swell ) . North and South you can use Tweed bar ( try to keep to incoming tide and swell less than 1.5 metres , can be dicey ) and Gold Coast Seaway ( watch the outgoing large tides for pressure waves )

See http://www.thefisherman.com.au/html/..._by_month.html for a month by month pelagic planner . We are currently nearing the end of our mackeral season on the reefs mentioned in this article .

    Re: Fishing Advice

hey all i live in townsville and know alot about river fishing and i have now taken more interest in deeper off shore fishing. i own my own 16ft tiny and am trying to find some decent spots off townsville. at the moment i am totally oblivious to good reef spots or shoals that every one seems to be going on about, if any one could give me some good directions to good spots i am familiar with the coast of townsville would be great

    G'day Apprentice

I have just come back from a couple of weeks around townsville - most of it on the horshoe bay side of Maggy to stay out of the chop.

There is quite a good book (that I have forgotten the name of unfortunately) called something like fishing Northern Australia - from SE Qld to halfway down WA. For the townsville/Magnetic is/ Bowling Green(?) areas there are some GPS marks, the reefs are marked and restricted areas indicated. Also points out where the various species are likely to be found. From memory nothing in it for way out on the reef, but good for about 20 kg out. You shoiuld be able to find this book/mag in the magazine section of any decent newsagent - I was able to find it here in Lismore NSW

    cheers

    Tony

    Welcome Cindy, welcome apprentice.
Apprentice, there are many knowledgable people on this site from Townsville. Although I wouldn't class myself as knowledgable, I have been in Townsville quite awhile. Some of these guys fish quite often and have posted quite a bit on the site. PM me if you would like me to share a little of what I know.
Any fishing is good fishing (should probably say Any fishing is...probably going to be illegal soon)

    DC and JB,
Thanks for the kind offers. I haven't had a lot of time lately to do too much fishing but I will definitely take up your kind offers at some stage.
