During the next school holidays starting Monday the 28th June, I will be taking one of the 2 weeks off. To look after the kids as well as cram in as much fishing as possible,
I have a choice which week, so which week would you choose? The full moon is on the weekend in the middle so fist week the lead up and the second week the lead down.
Have heard that the day or so before the full is ok, but according to the solunar charts, most of the leadup week is pretty average. But then, after the full moon it is suppose to be not so good anyway.
I developed a database that includes solunar data and I ran a report from it for the school hols. It appears here (ignore the 2005 in it - I just haven't changed to code to remove that yet).
Over the years, the solunar theory has been pretty good to me - for both fishing and crabbing. It's not foolproof, but for me it's been right far more often than it's been wrong.
BTW - the SH in the right hand column means School Holidays - not the other meaning
I would go the first week as well because I have always believed 3 days before a full moon the fish bite well. I know at Noosa one night 3 days b4 the full, we caught a bagfull of almost all vartieties off munna point. Prior to that nobody caught anything and even after .... nothing much was caught. The prawns that night were out in their thousands under the coastguard boats as well. It was one wierd night. The missus got a whiting longer than her forearm and lost some monster the next bait, smashed her up as if she was using cotton.
Was a goodun
cheers
