Hey guys, going to Fraser in the holidays. Firstly wondering how the tailor are at the moment and size etc, and how the weed is. and secondly, jewwies, would it be possible for me to target them and using what biat and rig etc. Ill be staying at Waddy Poiny.
    Cheers,

Mate if you are dead keen on a jewie, fish the deep washes adjacent to the rocks around waddy point, south waddy and further south at the champagne pools. Rig is a 6/0 on a metre of 30lb trace, swivel, running ball sinker to suit. You'll need a bucket full of worms, thread the head of two worms up onto the trace, and wrap the rest of the worm around the hook into a big blob, pinning it at the tail end to hold them on. High tide at dusk should hopefully see something happen

    Thanks Sharkbait,
Will definately give it a go. So worms are definately better than a live tailor etc. just I'll probably need a fair few worms, but i spose I'll get them if I have to.
    Cheers,

I have just come back from Fraser, but I wasn't fishing the comp. There was a fair bit of weed in the water in some parts of the beach which was a real nuisance. Clearest water was furthest South that I saw.

Saw plenty of mullet in one particular gutter. Plenty of dart everywhere, few small whiting, one tailor, plenty of worms there if you can pull them.

Jackash, a live legal tailor would definitely be a goer for a big fish, but its a lot of work Worms will take the smaller fish as well as the bigger ones though, for a lot less effort. That said I have never caught a really big jewie, but have seen 2 over 12 kilos caught on worms, in 2 consecutive nights at my local beach. Yes you will need plenty of worms as the dart and bream (sometimes tailor ) will make a nuisance of themselves, but the ones that can swallow a 6/0 are usually worth the nuisance Jeremy makes a good point about the mullet, mullet in a beach gutter are usually a sure sign of bigger and better things. Hope you get one...

Aright heres my plan, low tide catch some (a lot of) worms and scope out a gutter that will become nice and deep during the high tide which also has plenty of smaller fish in it. High tide that night fish it....... and hopefully pull in my first good jewwie.
    Cheers,
    Jackash.
