Size limit for Maori Cod in NSW?
Caught two of these beautiful eating fish off Evans Head yesterday. I know the Qld size limit is 45cms - is the NSW limit the same? I can't imagine it being higher, I don't think they grow much more than 60 cms. The NSW Fisheries site seems to be a bit sketchy on other than very standard target fish.

The way i read into it there is no size limit and a possible bag limit of five, however there is also quite a few species of cod that are totally banned down there, the estuary cod being one. next time i am talking to my brother i will ask him, as he has caught heaps down off bruns. hope this helps
cheers

Re: Size limit for Maori Cod in NSW?
Thanks Joe
Thats the way I figured it too. I already have the website you posted - but thanks anyway - it will be of interest to other people that might look at this thread. The fish really is top eating, and I reckon there should be a size limit on it in NSW as well, just to help ensure that they stay available. Talking to people around here they are not often caught this far south

I rate them very highly as a table fish, my brother has caught some nice specimens around brunswick heads, Pics on my web page, he was saying he heard someone caught some juvenile red emporer over the summer . don't know for sure it wasn't confirmed.
cheers
Joe
