Im assuming you mean Forster (mid north coast nsw) .. if not, then totally ignore this post.
try the lake (oyster leases for big bream / okish flathead), breakwall (large bream/flathead), beaches (tuncurry side usually - for tailor etc ...) or any of the decent rocky headlands (janies corner, booti booti - just up from one mile beach (sth end) it's a bit of a trek .. but fun and beautiful
as for offshore, I cant say in the 18 years I lived there I ever went out (!!!) but the surrounding areas usually fish pretty well judging by reports. head over to http://www.fishingmonthly.com.au and check out the forster section of their nsw reports, they'll list the usual offshore spots.
I'm most likely heading down at the end of july for Dad's 50th, hopefully I can get enough time off work to fit some fishing in
