    Hi guys,
Yes taking out the Abalone from Bribie.
It will be our first trip across to Morton so fingers crossed.
Looking at the chart it seems the best way over is head out to the marker near Gilligans Island then east. Should put us pretty close anyway.
I just brought a new Matrix 20 however I'm not sure how to hook it up so we will be DR all the way.
Any ideas of good spots to get live bait in Pumicestone Pass ??

Why not gather your baits at one of the bay beacons on your way to Curtain? We picked up plenty with ease last time we were out that way using a bait jig.
Depending on the weather I'm hoping to be out there early Saturday or Sunday morning.

Excellent guys, this saves us trudging around the Pine late Friday night.
    Another question ???
What's the best way to hook up these yakka's and Mackeral for live baiting ??
In the esturies I usually use poddy mullet with the hook thru the tail.

    Abalone.
I agree with dane i recon the curtain Arti is a great place to start. I would evan try thinking about gettin some live whiting cause if the snappers are around they normally go nuts for them and that is my preference to catch them on.

Anyway good luck mate. you will have to post your report in here to let us how you go

    Cheers

Not totally sure on what you call mackerel scad but we picked up a few of what we called slimey mackerel from the E4 beacon (one of the '4 beacons'). A couple were really good size too (around 25cm). We had been there early in the day and only got yakkas, then returned later (bottom of the tide) and couldn't find anything close to the beacon so we left the jig hanging over the side while we drifted away from the beacon, the slimeys jumped on when we were about 40-50m from the beacon. I guess they venture further from the beacons during slack tide??

    Cheers Dylan,
We will try and give the whiting a go if there are any around and time permits.
Dont worry if we get any fish you will see them up on the site.
Apart from charters I've never fished outside the rivers and beaches.

Another way to learn fast about fishing new areas is to join a fishing club

    Hey Boy's,

The beacon in front of Tangalooma is always loaded with slimies. The beacon is about 2-3 Km of the Tangalooma pier.

You are new to fishing in Morten Bay, and i'm sure you have no idea on the current that runs from the tide movement. Fish the hour before and after a high or low, as it runs to quick during the tides.

When the tide does pick up, put a 4-8oz snapper lead on your line and run about 20-30ft of leader from that with a nice flesh bait or small livie. You bait will flow in the tide movement, and you might pick up a nice snapper this time of year.

Hope all goes well, and let us know. Saturday morning will be nice offshore.
