    FRASER ISLAND IN SEPTEMBER

Heading to Fraser in September can anyone tell me when the bigger tailor (greenbacks) are around and how has it been fishing thus far this year. [smiley=laola.gif]

Me too. I'll be there for a week from 28 Aug somewhere North of Waddy. How's the weed situation? Is Ngkala and Brown's Rocks fishing OK for tailor?

    Only 37 sleeps.

    Re: FRASER ISLAND IN SEPTEMBER

Yep me too, a week starting from the 14 August. So I will be back before you two head over. I will make sure I do a report on the fish and the Snot weed.
Last year only managed one big greenback (about 5 kg) , shitloads of smaller ones and dart though. I think the big ones hang out at the back a bit. ie Cast over the choppers to get to the whoppers. 8)

    Re: FRASER ISLAND IN SEPTEMBER

I'm heading up next Thursday (29/7), so about 7 big sleeps to go .
The word I have received is, some weed but still fishable. Tailor off the rocky headlands and plenty of Whiting in the shallow low tide gutters

Will also give a report when I get back on the 4 th of August.

I'll be camped somewhere between Cathedrel Beach and the Pinnacles, just look for the lifesize cut-out as our Camp Marker, you'll know when you see it

    Cheers
    Craig.

Camping Craig?, ... you lucky bastard.
I have to rough it in a unit with heating a big queen size bed and hot showers. 8) 8)

Looking forward to your report. Also interested in where the pippys are this year.
Did you happen to catch that Thommo idiot on Bris 31 Tuesday , he was on Fraser and used a small bait trap to catch fresh water shrimp from the creeks up there and then was using them as live bait in the surf?

    Re: FRASER ISLAND IN SEPTEMBER

I'll be there from 11th August. When I was there in April there weren't many pippis or worms - except worms on northern side of Indian head.
Anyone know where the worms are hiding on the eastern beach?

Feel sorry for you SeaHunt, all those bloody hot showers will stop you getting crusty and stinky like the rest of us

Will get a few pics to go with my report.

    Re: FRASER ISLAND IN SEPTEMBER

BTW , will be taking my Hand Held GPS this time.
We could have really used it last year , sometimes we spent half an hour or so trying to find the same gutter we were on the day before.
Also ever tried to spot the big washouts in the dark. Nearly went over a 4 ft drop last year, It can be scarey stuff.
I will make em all waypoints. I know the depth varies a lot with the tides , but unless you get really rough weather the big ones don't usually change much over a week.
Cant wait, 18 more sleeps. 8)
