    bj,
Try your local library. Normally have a few books on navigation. Or put up your location. Perhaps a kind Ausfish member in your area may give you some tuition in return for a beverage of some type.
    ROLL TIDE, ROLL.................

What do you need to know? Do you have a metric or imperial chart? I know a bit about charts (as I draw them). Cheers.

Blackjew, cant tell where you are from but call into your local VMR, Coastguard, Coastal Patrol and they will be more than keen to give you a quick 5-10 minute rundown on how to read them. There is a lot of information on a chart if you know where to look.
You are not going to come away understanding why the earths poles move in that time but you will have a good grasp to be able to find your way around and know where you are.
If you are a local and are going to the meet and greet at Jacobs Well, there are some very knowledgeable blokes heading to it that can also put you on the right track.
I am sure that your local boat shop will help out too if need be.
    Cheers Lloyd

There you go dude - few people offering some assistance. Reading charts isn't hard once you get the know how of it. Could you be more specific, i.e...ask questions?

Have a look at your local transport office for a booklet about boating.

There should be some info about charts, navigation etc..
