Thanks anyway

Re: Live Baits in Noosa river ?
unless your chasing trevally why do you want herring? they die so quickly. if you must have herring (you do get a few at the boat ramp i mentioned) go for a look up around the bridge at munna point and around harbour town. All of the jettys along noosaville hold herring from time to time.

Re: Live Baits in Noosa river ?
Thanks mate, well i like herring as its what i have used the whole 6 years i have been fishing the noosa river and i have caught all my biggest fish on them. Yeh they are a pain in the ass dying on you all the time, but im building a live bait tank so they should be fine.
I remember like 2-3 years ago we would be cast netting for them and get so many in one cast that half were dead by the time we got them all out which sucked.

Re: Live Baits in Noosa river ?
ohh yeah!! been there!
i fished the noosa rover quite a bit last summer for jacks (only got one). and the biggest silver biddys i could find were the gun bait. love fishing up there of a night time (once all the jet ski clowns are gone). caught some big lizards, plenty of tailor and trevally and a few other bits and peices.
will start heading up there again when the water temp bumps up a fraction more and those steamy summer days return. ROLL ON SUMMER

Re: Live Baits in Noosa river ?
Mind telling me where you got the jack ? PM if you want. I've been fishing the noosa river for 6 years now and Jacks are another one on the 'uncaught' list. I have tried trolling for jacks but not bait fishing, i am sure i have been hit by jacks several times, its like hooking up to a steam train but never actually hooked one properly.
I have only ever really seen small fingerling jacks in person and i did once see one up close when my friend hooked one in the upper reaches of the river but it snapped him clean right next to the boat.

Re: Live Baits in Noosa river ?
cant give you my exact spots... but there are plenty of spots to live bait for jacks in the noosa river. any of the rock walls on the corners up the river near the barge, and the jettys and bridges down in noosa sound. anchor up of a night time (not on the slack tides) and be patient. i reckon i woulda got 5 hits on average most nights... but they all seam to come at once when the fish move through. so sound around in the day time and find the holes and what not then fish one spot each night. but give it a solid few hours in each spot.
