STANAGE BAY

HI EVERYONE
AM TRAVELLING FROM IPSWICH TO STANAGE BAY FOR 1ST WEEK OF OCTOBER AFTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS..HAVE BEEN THERE A FEW TIMES BEFORE BUT ARE STILL MISSING A FEW SPECIES ON MY LIST.. HAVE CAUGHT MAINLY ESTUARY COD ON LURES, BUT WANT BARRA, JACK, FINGERMARK. WILL SPEND MORE TIME ON THE WESTERN SIDE OF LONG ISLAND CHASING THESE CRITTERS, BUT ANY ADVICE ON THESE AREAS WOULD BE HELPFULL AND MAYBE SAVE SOME FULL AND WASTED TIME.
EITHER WAY ITS A GREAT PLACE TO BE..

where abouts did u catch the cod on lures?
we have only caught blue salmon...plenty of them and great fun!!! a commercial fisher showed us the spot, otherwise we woulda been screwed.
have u caught any other species there? im a keen lure fisher but couldnt seem to catch anything there on the lure

COD WERE CAUGHT FROM ROCKS ANYWHERE FROM PORTERS CREEK ALONG THE MAINLAND SIDE AND TOWRDS THE BOTTOM END OF LONG ISLAND. THEY CAME FROM HOLES AT LOW TIDE AND WERE ALL TAKEN CASTING REIDY'S TAIPAN DEEP - ONE AFTER THE OTHER AT MOST TIMES UPTO 9 POUNDS. I KNOW ONE OF THE LOCALS UP THERE AND HE CONSTANTLY CATCHES FINGERMARK IN THE SOUND TROLLING DEEP ALONG THE ROCK EDGES. PLAN TO BE MORE ADVENTUROUD THIS TRIP AND FISH THE CUT THROUGH AT THE BOTTOM OF LONG ISLAND - SEE HOW THAT GOES, I THINK MOSTLY THIS AREA HAS PROBABLY BEEN FLOGGED.

thanks for the help mate...ill try for the cod next time i go up there....did u catch any other species on the lure???
have u tried for the jew in the jew holes?
