    beach/fishing shelters

    hi guys

just wondering,do you guys use any type of beach/fishing shelters like umbrellas or specifically designed fishing shelters?

Iknow you boys have great weather and dont really need to shelter from the wind and rain like us sorry frezing uk boys
but i was thinking of the kids when out down the beach for the day ,they always end up in mine drinking coke and eating crisps(chips) and kick me out > so is there anything like this on the market in Aus??

    cheers guys

    regards

We have trees but I have never seen anything other than the odd umbrella or open tent style thing on the beach.

Whiting and flathead are about the only things you'll catch on the beach during the day, and you really need to keep moving around to do this successfully. Bream, tailor, jew etc are all best targetted at night/dawn/dusk.

Even if you could get one, there are not too many places where you can sit in one spot all day and actually do well fishing.
You'll just have to toughen up and get used to the rugged Aussie environment!

    Re: beach/fishing shelters

    thanks guys

oh right so you boys keep moving with the fish?
we set up and stay put and wait for the tide to bring the fish to us which is always a really long wait as theres none left over here cause the stupid government has sold them all to the french and spanish > > I was thinking more of the kids really when playing whilst i am fishing if in the open beach enviroment, with all the probs with the sun but as you say i may be able to set up in the shade or find something like a umbrella for the younsters.
having said that it sounds as though i will be better off fishing at night for better success,so that kind of solves the problem, take them to the beach(and take a little bit of fishing gear just in case!!lol lol )and do the sandcastle building bit with the kids then sneak out later with a truck load of gear and a headlamp and chase some monsters in the surf lol lol

    thanks guys

    Re: beach/fishing shelters

you can buy long sleeved spf 50+ shirts for swimming in there are lots of ways to avoid the sun don't sweat it. To use a bad pun. You will get the hang of it pretty fast. being on the beach in the middle of the day in summer is not much fun early morning and late afternoon are much more pleasant.
