With the current range of SP's increasing so rapidly and the number of different products out there i would like some help with choosing some products based on how succesful other Ausfish members have been with them.
Throw in some pumpkinseed 2 and 3" grubs (bream) and 3" white and pink gulps (flatties), some natural color atomic grubs 2 & 3" (bream), and Bass minnows and gulp minnows in a variety of colors (all of the chosen fish love these)
for flatties I recommend the 3 - 4inch Squidgy fish - pink and green are the two most popular colours - gold also goes well
bream - 3in dropshot - watermelon and blue pearl are most popular - 3in gulps are getting a few too
squidgies are cheap at K-mart, cost more at your local tackle shop, but usually comes with plenty of tips and advice -definitiely worth the extra cost if you are starting out
And if you want plastics that arent going to rip apart like all the others..
i suggest the 2" Terminator Snapback Grubs and 4" Terminator Snapback Finesse Jerkbaits.. all the colours are good.. and will catch all the fish you just mentioned!
SHHH tim i thought they were only going to be for us
agree with tim as i am waiting for my order
personly but most plastics are going to work and as for coulor well it is just like picking a shirt for the day
best bet is stick your hand in and just pick one
too many coulors and types to pick from nowdays
Ok me and my mate caught our first fish ever on SP's today, we both got a flathead each about 55cm. I got one on a Berkley 3" Bass Minnow (pearl/blue/shd) and he got one on an Atomic 3" Shad (grey ghost)
Just invested around $60 in plastics at the mart that starts with A. Picked up some Squidgies and Storm Shads aswell as Gamakatsu jigheads. Bloke cut me a few deals which was good. Have a chat to them for a while and your money will go far. They do know what they are talking about.
I have found the Atomic Fat Grub in the brown crawdad colour to be awesome on my local population of flathead. I'm yet to get a bream on a plastic but have stocked up on various 2" grubs in natural/brown sort of colours and a few paddle tails aswell.
I can only really comment on fishing for flathead on plastics. The only patern i've notice in terms of catches is in dirty water use white plastics, the lizards seem to see them better. To me the size of the plastic is not important for lizards. I've caught 30cm lizards on 4" plastics and my bigest lizard on plastics to date (high 70's) was caught on a 2 inch salt water assasin.
