I am planing a holiday to Turkey beach late in January.
I am going to drag the boat up for the offshore fishing and I could use some help on the names of reefs within 50Ks.
I'm not asking for your GPS marks, just general direction and distance will do, so that I can do some research before I leave.

G,day Predator,12 months or so ago Lucky Phill posted a few marks for turkey and the rock cod shoals,if you can do the search thing you can bring them up,if not yell out and I'll get them to you.In the meantime here is some general info.Aprox 6nm from the ramp there is a red flashing nav marker,19.5nm from this marker at 354 deg is Lucky Phills mark for Rock Cod Shallow(roughly centre),21nm at 18 deg is the centre of Tallarook(spelling),Outter Rock off Bustard Head is 8.65nm at 82 deg off Ethyl Rock(which is just around the corner from the red marker).I will be there from the 8th till the 29th with my lot,If you want another boat to travel with yell out,don't forget the Bushman.
Can't help you out with any spots, but, by all means let us know a couple of weeks before coming up. I wouldn't mind dragging the boat down and coming for a run out. I haven't done anything out of Turkey as yet.
Maybe we could get some of the CQ guys together for a run out, I know there are a few that do the run down to Turkey occasionaly.

Every time I did the trip from Caloundra to Gladstone I saw the sign to Turkey Beach and thought "I should go and see there one day". So last trip I did.
I'm sure everyone was looking at me funny. I was the only one there without a 4WD or tractor towing my boat!! I wasn't intending on going fishing (time didn't allow), but I'm sure I could launch with my Commodore.
It looks like a beautiful area there, so when I go up to Gladdy over X-mas this year I'll stay there overnight on the way home.
Any hints for fishing the estuary there?
Sounds like another weekend away fishing. Looking forward to this one as well. Could be a warm up to 1770.

I thought the ramp looked good. I couldnt see a reason they had to have the 4WD and tractors, I was there at high tide though. The new ramp looks great!! I cant wait to give the area a go.
Might need to be careful with some of Lucky Phils marks. Some are in the new yellow zone I think.
Are yellow zones one hook one line per person or is fishing baned from these areas now?
Turkey Beach, where if you don't own a tractor your not a "Local" !
The estuary can fish a bit tough at times so don't forget the crab pots as the muddies will usually save the day.
Boat ramp is usually good, except wind the howls SE, it then creates quite a lot of wave action and slop on the end of the ramp, good time to look for a "Local" to pull you out via the sandy beach.

lol, thats right craigie, dropped in one day for a quick look, no fishing, and could not understand why everyone had a tractor parked in their yard , and these are standard house blocks. Counted 38 just doing a quick lap of the place.Originally Posted by craigie

I did the fly-by drop in tour too. If your house there doesn't have a tractor and two boats, your the odd one out...
Could be that the tractor is some sort of status symbol, stuff the boat just show us your tractor
Wouldn't mind spending a bit more time there as it's basically a sleepy little fishing village, somewhere a fisho would love to retire
