Re: night time, red eyes and big Barra

When I was working up in the Kimberly, we used to go Barra fishing at night in the creeks on one of the stations. We'd often see the red eyes (sometimes a foot apart) watching us in the torch light. Couple that with the huge slide marks on the banks and you quickly get the idea that there are some big Crocodiles around. In the dark, you can hear them barking like dogs and when the barking pack seems to grow in number and get louder (closer) there is nothing you can do but move to somewhere else. Stay well away from the water and DO NOT splash or disturb the water in any way. Remember that you usually only get 1 chance with a hungry or upset Crocodile and, if he decides to put you on the menu and you're too close to the water's edge, by the time you know he's there, it's way too late and if he decides to have a go, you physically can't get out of his way quick enough. Almost the perfect killing machine. Other than that, have a great trip.

    Cheers,
    BIGNICK.

So whats the STEVE IRWIN advice if a croc does grab you?
Eyes and snout like a shark attack? Will a small croc have a go? Ive been doing some reserch on the NT croc saftey pages and it always seems to be a big croc....Interesting reading
