    Re: SKIRTED LURES

have thought about it... but we seam to get wolf herring in winter, and spaniards in summer...so i wonder whether they would look so appealing. in summer we get huge schools of slimies, yakkas and pillies. so thats what is NORMALY used for bait. in saying that i would like to tow around a few ribbon fish, they just look like mongrel things to rig (would need about 6 hooks).

Like you say Jeffo, to troll Ribbonys you need a big heap of gangs which then aren't GFAA legal. We even find it frustrating trolling for Spaniards under ANSA rules where we don't need the stinger hook buried in the body like GFAA rules but we can't use a treble in the back. The one place they would be good would be in Tin Can Bay around May/June where both species are present.

The pro's target Large spaniards in winter off the sunshine coast. I know these fish follow the tailor and mullet schools at this time.
I here you did well at BP on the weekend Smithy, congratulations.
