Collapsable Reef Anchours
I have a standard reef anchour that like most, is tucked away out of site as it is not often used. I plan to use it more regularly, but the problem is that the anchour well is only about 150mm deep so it will not fit in. I don't want an ugly pvc tube bolted on the rail, so was considering buying one of those reef anchours that fold flat. That way I could fit it in the well and not have to worry about changing over anchours all the time.
They seem lighter, but I also have nearly 6m of chain, so that should help it hold.
Thoughts?

Re: Collapsable Reef Anchours
I found one whilst spearing on a coral bombie. Bloody good but hard to get off because they are so rigid and strong. Probably why I found it. I use it in shallow shailly stuff like a shoal but not on real reefie territory

Why dont u just use a plow. Shackle the end of the chain to the eye @ the bottom of the plow and use cable ties to fix the chain up the shaft so that when hooked into the coral, sand or mud its holding from the shaft.
On retrieval if enough pressure is applied u will break the cable ties and pull the plow out backwards. I use cable ties and a m8 uses 100lb fishing line. Works every time and the one anchor system is very convenient.
Most of the pro trout fishermen that I associate with use plows.

One of the best things I have heard with a plough is to attach a 20litre drum to your anchor line and let the anchor rope run through the handle of the drum. So when you go to get the anchor off and you drive it off the anchor comes up and is lifted off the bottom by the drum. No heavy lifting and good for when you got 3 mtres of 10mm chain.
