    Jacob's Well this Saturday??

I will be heading down to Jacob's Well on Saturday morning with the tinny, planning to chase some Whitting. Any suggestions on where/when to fish? Haven't done much fishing down in that area.
    Cheers Richo

saturday morning huh! Pray for a screaming southeaster to chase the boats away.

Some unsecret but worth while plans.

With some fresh & a lot of traffic around - try on the flooding tide the western dropoff of the centre bank between kalinga & crusoe island with BIG sinkers & long traces or drift from the true entrance to tiger mullet thru the green & gold banks with pea sinkers & yabbies so the bait travels at the same speed as the boat not following its path but wide of the boat (know what I mean).

On the falling tide explore the slipping sands area - if you are wise you will find some.

Thanks Chris, yeah normally avoid fishing the week-ends if I can, but have got this one off so I'll have a shot early. Where should I look for a good yabby bank?

I'd be heading down towards the pin. I was at cabbage tree last sunday and it was very murky and weedy still from the recent rains.

decent yabbie bank inside top of jacobs channel between the greens

decent hole on the inside (against the northern bank) there to you fish on the top to get away from the traffic

I also went out from Jacobs Well early on Sat to chase a few late season Flatties. The Missus got the best for the day with a big female just over 70cm and five and a half pound. We let her go, but I'm proud of her work. Only her second go at flickin plastics. We'll have to team up for the Classic in '05. We got 6 all told, with 2 that came home. Plenty of boats out though - nearly all chasing whiting - saw a few get some, but overall seemed a bit slow. Plenty of wankers unsure of how to measure 6knots or have no clue how far away 30meters is. They should make it harder to get a licence IMO.

Photo of the girlie and the one that went 70cm (taken with mobile phone - sorry about pic qual)
