Have to agree with Damon about the IQ of longtails, Quite often fishing for Bay snapper around Tangalooma you see a few cutting through the burley trail early in the morning. One time, I was at Anchor and I didnt want to move to chase a tuna half way round the bay. 5 0r 6 10kg fish were feeding behind the boat in the berley trail. I diced a pillie and began to feed them. The next lot of pillie cubes had a 4/0 on 40lb line in one of the pieces. Well up they came, and nothing on the 40lb.
So I dropped to 20lb line, Same again the tuna belted the cubes of pillies 6ft from the boat not touching the piece with the hook hidden in it. I had a 6" Alvey there with 10lb torture on it. So I said "why not" the morning had been quiete. Even with the 10lb line and a 2/0 hook well hidden in the pillie the fish still shyed away until one of the fish couldnt help himself.
Well I released the anchor rope and threw over the float. Chased the bloody thing to the shipping channel for about an hour 20 minutes.
Got lucky with a corner of the mouth hook up, Netted and released the exhasted fish.
    Long tails, smart fish

Maybe a 950 this year though, bit heavier, and slower
