    Wannabee fisherman

School teacher on holidays, recently addicted to fishing hoping some nice people might take me out on a boat fishing... I have been on a couple of charters, but cost has become an issue...(i'm a poorly paid teacher). Am happy to contribute for petrol etc... am good for conversation..AND LOVE TO FISH..... would really like some assistance getting amongst it...

I was going to offer a ride, but you're too far away

that's one of the funniest things I've seen for awhile - I guess you went straight from UNI into teaching. Teachers are paid well - I have plenty of friends that are in the state system and one or two in private - they're all paid well (I know exactly how much) and have high disposable incomes.
I own an employment agency and have been in the HR / employment game for more than 12 years - we cover private, gov, public, small - large - and teachers fair very well in the overall scheme of things.
I meet teachers at BBQs and things and that's a common feeling, but once they learn what other people are paid they usually feel a lot better about themselves.
I think a lot of people on Ausfish would be very happy with what you consider 'poorly paid'

It's child support that drains me..... i have ambition that is negated by the fact that as ateacher i get great holidays as opposed to the usual 4-5 weeks, but any further income i am able to earn from a higher position puts me into a different pay bracket and child support sucks most of it away.

As a teacher myself I will say we are not paid enough because if I was paid enough I would already own my nobel deep vee

Yep I agree. Teachers aren't paid enough.

    Re: Wannabee fisherman

i'll disagree with the 'not paid enough', but heh that's life. Understand the child support thing - have a few mates with that burden (or not depending if the deal fair). One friend is paying $500 per week (he's lost his house and is living at his parents)
I think everyone wants to be paid MORE, including me.

My teaching friends are just evil because they love nothing more than to ring me at 3.30pm from the pub and ask if I'm coming down when they know I'll be at work for another 3/4 hours. Oh and I just love that they keep f**king ringing me when they're on holidays "what ya doing today?"
