Hooking of Livies

gday all , was just wondering how u guys hook your livies, been getting into some live baiting lately and was just wondering the best way to fish them, i mean livies like herring, mullet etc, i am land based, any advice would be much appreciated.

many many different ways but the one key seems to be to keep it alive.

for yakkas i pin them on top before the first fin and not too deep so you don't get the back bone or kill em.

for yakkas you can also pin em underneath just back from the gills but before the guts.

for poddy mullet throught the mouth and out the top or through the top before the fin as explained before, or you can pin em in the top of the tail but not breaking the backbone.

i am sure others will say other ways.
