Next weekend I'll be staying 4 nights at a mate's place just north of Ballina. He's keen on the fishing so I'll be taking the boat.
Other than knowing I require a licence I know nothing about offshore fishing in this area. Anyone keen to pass on a few hints tips either on this thread or via PM I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm sure there's something I can do in return?
Given that I'll be 10-15mins away from Baillina I guess I'll be using that bar so any tips on getting across and back safely would also be appreciated.
By the way - I've always had a soft spot for Mexicans
IMO Banshee is the man on Ausfish who knows most about the FNC. You might like to PM him if he doesn't get to this thread . I feel sure he wouldn't mind. If you don't hear from him the following might be useful.
The Ballina bar is not too tough most of the time- Probably best to drive to the North wall to have a look at it first. Pretty much always you go out from the northern side of the bar and head out at about a 45 degree angle from the line between the end of two walls. Its pretty obvious when you have a look at it. Come in on the same path.
