    Gamefishing Crew Wanted - Brisbane

My boat Pocket Watch and I have just moved to Brisbane and we're keen to join a gamefishing club so we can get back on the water and hopefully put a regular crew together to do some social and tournament fishing.

I've done done a fair bit of gamefishing in New Zealand and out of Sydney but know very little about the local scene.

Pocketwatch is a Blackwatch 26 flybridge and we'll be based at Aquatic Paradise (a flash name for the canals at Birkdale ) just south of Manly.

I hear there's a club at Manly associated with the Yacht Club, a Moreton Bay fishing club and a couple on the Gold Coast. I need some help on which one would be best given my location and interest in doing a fair bit of social and tournament fishing.

Where to fish? - from what I've been told, I could go out around the north end of Moreton, between Morton and Nth Stradbroke or Jumpinpin

Any help/advice would be much appreciated

g'day mate. check out the sunshine coast game fishing clubs web page
    www.scgfc.org.au
excellent club and not to far for you to drive to a meeting once a month. in your boat i would reccomend going off the top of moreton. either to hutchies, the trench, caloundra... so many possibilities. is it a new flush deck 26? we have one of these in our club already... raises plenty of fish.

Thanks, I'll check them out. It's 18 months old so it's the model before the flush deck came out.....but we've got used to wresting fish around the box. We've had good results on yfin and marlin on the troll so it seems to raise fish OK.

forgot to mention- there is no shortage of super keen crew in the club looking to get out as much as they can.

umm.. im not familiar with the bay at all. have to wait for rob or one of the other bay gurus to come on line. "the trench" is basically the most northern sand bank at the top of the bay.. where it drops away into deep water.. from there you can troll just about any where with a very good chance off getting shots.

gday, where?.. well that is always the million dollar question, does help having your boat on a trailer and following the bite to wherever that may be, you could shoot straight out of the south passage bar thats the one east of manly but a lotta people dont like that bar, and especially in a rocky rolly sorta boat like a small flybridge steering clear of breakers and going north of moreton could be a smart move, youll find lots of company up there, thats where the majority of game boats fish.

    Lincoln,

Welcome tot he site mate. Aquatic Paradise is a few streets away from my joint. I'm at Wellington Point. Manly Boat Harbour has numerous clubs, but not having much to do with its membership (only crewing sailing vessels), I couldn't tell you much. Worth a look though. Hope you enjoy it here and your time on the site.

    Regards

    Ben
